Russet Gold by AiRen-SC Russet Gold by AiRen-SC
As a part of working off my bad karma, this picture is one of the few chores I got roped in to do for the friends' kids who requested this after watching [link]. Its twin will be uploaded in a couple of days. I used the lovely Medusa by Faveral (I'm not at home working with boats, cars and such - if it doesn't have fur or skin it makes me nervous, so all the flaws and foibles here can be put down to venturing for the first time into a completely new area for me). Maps modified/replaced and a few bits modified to work better with my lighting.
The final image is far from flawless - as usual there are always things I can only see after it's up 'n' live and there's no time to fix it. The kids liked it though, so I guess it means mission accomplished. Its 'redux' version can be found here [link]

Eked out in fits and convulsions on a bog-standard, bare-bones DS3A, no fancy plugins, no swish external render-engines, and cursed, sworn-at and beaten out of my crippled antique of a desktop.

:-)Well, Mr Leonardo da Koji, I'm looking forward to your first traditional piece to show up on DA. You'll wipe the floor with the most of us muppets here, I have no doubt about it.
BTW, my ill-conceived monster of a doodle inspired by your General is nearing completion. It'll go to you only for proofing and green light, and after/if you agree with the results, I'll upload it for the whole of DA to have a poke at me and whinge how he-doesn't-have-this-or-has-more-of-that:lol:, with the link to your pic and a mention. I know you said before you were fine with that, but I want to double-check, just in case.

Yeah @ that Seph.." You have him wielding his sword as a LEFTY. He's right handed."

and I dont know if I can upload a traditional piece to DA.. its painting from life.. I assume they will make us work large

:jawdrop:...
shocked silence...
:rofl::rofl::rofl: I cannot friggin' believe this...:rofl:
Which pea-brained-bat-blind-dumbass told ya he's not a lefty?!
Have they ever actually seen more than two seconds of Sephiroth in action?! Or read the character info inside the CD cover for the game?!
For heaven's sake...:iconfacepalmplz: Send them this link [link] , please, and put Miss/Mr Soggy-Brain out of their misery...Gimme their address too, so I can send them the link to Wikipedia, finalfantasy wiki and the largest Sephiroth fan club I can find online so they can tear this muppet to shreds... Which exactly FF7 they've been watching? One in the parallel universe?

You can - if you scan or photograph it (but beware of the quality issues that may arise - nothing that can't be worked around, but it's worth it if you plan to sell it.)

Oh I sent them a link ( This was around the time I posted that Seph ). s I said in that journal post.. Ive heard the most assinine things...
first of all.. in sword skills, people SWITCH up. Sure someone is mainly left/right handed.. but there are attacks that you have combinations. Only an idiot attacks from one side all the time D:.
And teh whole idea that someone would view a painting, where Sephiroth is naked- and focus on that...:XD: Like, ANYTHING they can do to pick out something must be wrong. Its like on the Connor picture I did and people were so quick to criticize that "a half- native person would NEVER be thats skin tone".

^ thats so retarded. No one can predict the skin tone of a mixed race person. I know. I am one. But they just want to find a problem however they can.

One of the most recent comments I got for Seph: " what...what is this blasphemy?!"

oh humans...

It looks awesome, though why ds3 instead of bryce?

:iconairen-sc:
AiRen-SC Featured By Owner Jun 27, 2012
:-) Thank you.

Why not Bryce? Several reasons:
1. I'm still crawling baby-style with Bryce (I haven't gone past the 'colour-that-sphere-in-the-water-thingy' stage yet ). While I can be blind drunk and blind-folded and still knock up a reasonably decent lighting in DS just the way I want to, that's not the case when I set it up in Bryce. I need to practice more.

2. Nine out of ten times when I click on 'send to Bryce' everything crashes. That one time when it actually works, all my meticulously created displacement and bump and specular maps are gone (and I have no idea where and how to get them back). :iconfacepalmplz: What am I saying - ALL maps are gone, colours, textures, the lot.

3. In DS I can take a simple plane, play with the displacement maps and strength and some deformers and voila - I have a wavy sea. In Bryce I start with plane, click on 'M' tab - and scracth my head 'coz nothing happens, regardless what I press, click or swear at:lol:. Of course I'm doing something wrong, but I seem to be a very long way from figuring it out.;-)Y'know that old saying about old dogs and new tricks...
