[link] Not the pretty-faced leather-trench-dressed bishie as the young generation who fell for AC got to know him, but the awe-inspiring/tremble-in-your-boots/beautiful monster of the original game.
FF7 was the very first game I've ever played and as with most other "firsts", it has a very special place in my heart. Not just that it took me embarrassingly long to defeat Seph (and I had to cheat in the end) I also did it while watching the gameplay on the 10 ft screen. Last night the pain kept me awake again so I roamed through the house trying to find something to get my mind of it. I looked through some old DVDs and my old memory card fell out , the one with the last FF7 save - from 14 years ago. I still have my old PS2 and the copy of the game (too much to be able to resist it) so I powered up the old gal, curious to see if it will have the same impact on me as it did years ago, when my party of three would be reduced to 1 HP point all by the most elegant and utterly epic attack that would keep you white-faced in dread, helplessness and awed for the full two minutes before gracefully reducing you to Game-Over- tears in the next move.
I can confirm it now - he might be long in a tooth these days but the old boy Seph can still wipe the floor with the young upstarts in the gaming naughty corner. Hands down. (And as for the quick game replay from last night - I lost.)

Well I am from the AC-generation, because I never get a PlayStation as a child, but let me tell you, I love every little part of him. The "awe-inspiring/tremble-in-your-boots/beautiful monster" and the "pretty-faced leather-trench-dressed bishie".
Aahhh.. Sephiroth.. Yup, I am old enough to have played FF7, and literally fell in love with the story and the characters.. Such a beautiful and terrifying character, who was, like you say, truly awe-inspiring/tremble-in-your-boots, and utterly beautiful monster..
Thumbs up for this one!! I am thinking of painting Sephiroth one of these days..
